Peter Palik: PINOKIO
The intention of the creators is to create a puppet production for a child audience of 5 years and older and to bring themes and ideas that develop mutual empathy and understanding through theatrical performance. The aim of the project is to create a puppet stage work that is comprehensible, artistically attractive, modern, communicative and offers audiences themes and values that are still relevant today. This enlightening and magical story from the pen of Italy's most famous children's writer Carlo Collodi belongs to the golden fund of the world's fairy tales. Generations of children have been introduced to it for centuries. The story of the adventures of a wooden boy named Pinocchio continues to fascinate not only children, but also adults. Countless versions and adaptations of this fairy tale are proof of this. The book about the wooden puppet who became a man is also an iconic template for puppet theatre. The puppet theatre is central to the story and is one of the settings where the story takes place. The tale offers several primary motifs and themes that are still interesting and relevant to children and youth filmmakers. Themes such as education, intergenerational relations and the motif of trust, solidarity, sacrifice and, above all, truth, still have the potential to broaden the diverse horizons of a child audience in the field of education, personal emotions or value orientation. Truth and falsehood are themes that are intrinsically linked to the protagonist, Pinocchio. Today, when lies have become a common part of elite communication, facts are routinely distorted in debates, and society is divided on fundamental value issues, the development of critical thinking needs to be promoted through theatre as well. The ambition of the creators is to contribute to this with this production. At the same time, it will be a sensitive probe into the sphere of childhood and childhood experience. The staging will use traditional puppetry techniques, but will contrast them with contemporary technologies. The aim of this fusion is to create a modern puppetry production for the whole family that will bring an element of puppetry artistry alongside education and entertainment.
The production is intended for audiences aged 5 years and over
