Akram Khan: KAASH (If Only) / DUST (Dust)
Dust
Akram Khan and Tamara Rojo have teamed up to play Dust in the English National Ballet's production of Lest We Forget, which commemorates the centenary of World War I. Akram Khan's Dust is about the empowerment of women in war, especially as they became the country's main workforce.
Kaash
Akram Khan teamed up with the acclaimed talents of Anish Kapoor and Nitin Sawhney to present the first feature-length work by Akram Khan Group. “Hindu gods, black holes, Indian time cycles, tabla, creation and destruction” were the starting points for this work in 2002. Kaash (Hindi word for “if only”) continued Akram Khan’s quest to build bridges between the world of contemporary dance and the Indian classical dance form Kathak.
