My new work Maison de la musique en sept périodes is inspired by the story of the Reduta building standing in the heart of the former coronation city of Bratislava. The temple of music adjacent to the Danube River is set in the common sounds of the city and from the beginning fulfilled its mission, to finally become the seat of the newly established Slovak Philharmonic in the post-war years. The symphony orchestra witnessed all the key events of our country. And so, in seven parts of a half-hour cycle, I sensitively 'unfreeze' my story of music, inspired by the influences of cultural and social events set in the heart of the Slovak metropolis , ”says Ľubica Čekovská. It offers the story of music, inspired by history up to the present, in seven images.
Ľubica Čekovská is also the author of impressive music for several film fairy tales. One of them is the original Slovak fairy tale The Enchanted Cave . It takes viewers to the times of myths and legends and, through the central female character, tells a story about hope, but also about human greed. Another fairy tale for which Ľubica created the score is called Three Golden Ducats . Her story brings the answer to the question of whether a cursed castle lady from the times of knights and a simple sheep shepherd can defeat evil together and find their way to each other despite the abyss of time and origin that separates them.
Ľubica Čekovská said about her composition Palingenia : "Palingenia (mayfly) is a musical story of an inconspicuous insect, living only twenty-four hours on the banks of the Danube. It wakes up in the morning, experiences its life as a continuous beautiful dance in a flock with other mayflies, and at the end of the day, its white bodies fall in the shape of a large white flower onto the surface of the Danube and disappear in the cycle of alternating life and death."
