Arnošt Goldflam: AT HOME WITH THE HITLERS: STORIES FROM THE KITCHEN
Every city has its own history and its white spots in it. Arnošt Goldflam has prepared a Slovak adaptation of his play Doma u Hitlerovcov (from Hitler's kitchen) especially for Košice, in which some of the white spots may be too black. Doma u Hitlerovcov is a fiction that returns to the theme of World War II with grotesque humor. In the current play by Czech playwright Arnošt Godflam, serious themes and references to the horrors of World War II are intertwined with intimate stories and reflections on the state of the world in the kitchen of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun. This will be the Slovak premiere of this play. Plays about how history is cooked... Or about why the Hitlerites are unable to have a child, what happens in the camps, what is the recipe for a good cake, or why there are so "many synagogues and so few Jews" in Košice. With the production, we want to recall the most terrifying events of 20th-century history. Events that need to be talked about constantly. However, the way we will look at the world 60 years from now is full of irony, cynical humor, and satire. Because laughter is the only remedy that heals.
"I tell you that humor will survive everything, even history itself. Humor is an absolute value, without time or space."
