Atelier Bez StopU & ŠUP Košice: Tre Ponti
A theatrical performance on the theme of Renaissance Commedia dell'arte will be performed by actors and students of the Jozef Adamovič Conservatory in Košice (KONJA) associated with the Ateliér Bez StropU.
The costumes, props and stage set were made by students of the ŠUP in Košice - Department of Scenic Design. The performance became a dynamic and interactive platform where the artistic talent of ŠUP students was reflected in the creation of theatrical props and costumes.
The performance at Tabačka Kulturfabrik will also include a participatory movement workshop for children from the Center for Children and Families located on Uralská Street in Košice, which will be prepared and implemented for them by young acting students.
Children will be able to master the principles of the archetypes of ancient Roman farce at the workshop, which will smoothly introduce them to the world of established types of Commedia dell'arte. They will discover the richness of this genre and develop their own means of expression, gestural vocabulary, and work with props.
Three Bridges
Comedy of the two millennia
The story charts the journey of comedy as a theatrical genre across three eras. The ancient philosopher Neavius introduces us to the story of the characters' fates through an amulet, which is a symbolic and key element of the production.
The main protagonists are also two lovers who are fatally tormented by unfulfilled love, and this archetype appears in each of the individual plots that Neavius mysteriously unravels. A borrowed, temporary immortality materializes in the background of the events. The unsuspecting characters are transported in time.
They find themselves in Renaissance Italy, during the period of street comedy, led by none other than the principal Neavius. He is the only one who consciously understands the absurdity and bitterness of this "comedy". However, the lovers long for an escape from the archetypes of the unfavorable era and seek a way to the New World. September 1, 1939. The Nazis have invaded Poland and the story moves to Chicago, where the descendants of Rome have migrated en masse and now a handful of them find themselves in the local boss Pappa's place.
However, the amulet, wandering through all the events, finds the lovers and fulfills the fate of two millennia of suffering. The story ends with a tragic epilogue for Neavio, now just a wanderer, wallowing in the garbage dump of history.
