Mikhail Urytsky: ELEPHANT
The story of Elephant, based on the story by Rudyard Kipling, is coming to the stage of the Puppet Theatre in Košice through the interpretation of the Ukrainian author and director Mikhail Urycký. Elephant lives in the jungle together with Hippopotamus, Giraffe, Ostrich and Baboon. Since he is constantly curious and asks questions about everything, the other animals lose patience with him and beat him up. In a fit of anger, they even want to give him to Crocodile, whom Elephant had never heard of before. Thus begins Elephant's journey to find the mysterious Crocodile and at the same time to find knowledge. Along the way, he meets other animals and experiences both funny and dangerous adventures. In the end, Crocodile gives him the greatest gift that little Elephant could have received. The play is a parable about the world of people who would rather live in a traditional stereotype than look for another path to new horizons. The production is interesting and unconventional with its choreography, dance and singing, which will transport the viewer to distant Africa. The beautiful and elaborate puppets in the hands of the actors on stage literally come to life, and the combination of these factors makes Elephant a magnificent modern narrative performance for children and adults.
The production is suitable for children from 3 years old.
