2017 AWARDS IN THE CATEGORY OF EXTRAORDINARY EFFECT IN THE FIELD OF DANCE THEATRE IN THE 2016/2017 SEASON
The true story of a Jewish family who hid in Amsterdam during World War II, but fell victim to the Nazi extermination just before the end of the war. Anne Frank captured her life in hiding in her diary. The ballet will be performed for the first time on the stage of the reconstructed Small Stage of the Slovak National Theatre. The project has an experimental character and is intended for a more demanding audience.
Annelies Marie Frank, a thirteen-year-old girl, hid with her family during World War II for two years in the back of a building in Amsterdam. However, just before the end of the war, she fell victim to the Nazi regime. Anne wrote down the events from June 12, 1942 to August 1, 1944, recording everything that happened around her, including the individual days in hiding. When she heard a call on Orange Radio in March 1944 for citizens to provide their notes for a collection for historical purposes, she began to transcribe her notes into book form. She managed to transcribe a significant part of the original letters. The notes end with a text that Anne wrote down just a few days before she and her family were found by soldiers and taken to a concentration camp. However, the notes were preserved and after the war, Anne's father Otto Frank, the only survivor of the war, was responsible for their publication in book form.
