Patricia Koyšová - Big cities
Artist Patrícia Koyšová , who is one of the most unique painters of Slovak art
art, is dedicated to gestural abstract painting in the air. It combines two principles,
craftsmanship and technology. Her painting style is based on process,
thereby moving his painting towards movement, illusion, but also spiritual qualities.
It mainly uses the crossing of lines on the basis of multiple spatial
plans, the last layer is highlighted with a gesture, or even a pasty stain.
Her sign painting deals with irrational structures, we can perceive it
The title of the exhibition, Big Cities, also partly refers to it. At the same time, the author refers to it as
relates to the city of Košice.
She allows viewers to enter her canvases, which have no bounded space.
They flow in waves, eddies, splashes even outside their visual field. It is at the same time
the author's Zen conversation with the vastness and infinity of space that surrounds us
surrounds it. She enters it with her inner dynamics. Her painting is a certain
in a poetic, but not literary, way, he replaces writing a poem with painting, thereby
also encourages such a reading of her painting as a non-verbal language.

Patrícia Koyšová (1985) is primarily engaged in non-representational abstract painting. In 2016, she completed her doctoral studies in the field of liberal arts with Prof. Ivan Csudai at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. An important element for her is the viewer and the impact on their imagination in an era of visual overpressure.
The curator of the exhibition and the author of the text is Gabriela Garlatyová , an art historian and pedagogue at the Academy of Fine Arts in Banská Bystrica and the Faculty of Arts in Košice. She is the author of a monograph on Maria Bartuszová and co-editor of the author's catalogue for her exhibition at the Tate Modern in London (2022).
