Sad news from a sad country
Behind seven mountains, behind seven valleys and seven border crossings, in a land where tears flow and sorrow pours, where flowers barely bud before they bloom, in a region where almost no one is left, there stands a small, shabby and barely functional hotel, in which a mother, daughter and one employee practice the honest profession of hoteliers.
What consequences can it have when we decide to return after many years? And who knows if it makes sense to leave at all, if the grass is really greener somewhere, or even drier and more scorched than here. Sad news from a sad country is a hyperbolic answer not only to this question, but also a reflection on what the motivations for leaving are. After all, it does not have to be just physical. Unclear communication can lead to fatal conclusions. A play inspired by Camus, who in turn was inspired by a newspaper report and his travels across Europe.
A production about search, hope, meaning and a non-existent god. A bit Beckett, a bit Burton or Kafka, but definitely life itself in its greatest existential crisis and the mud we fall into. Maybe Godot himself will take up residence in the charmingly ugly. Or would he rather not come at all? Let's wait. Let's see. Let's have hope.
