The Way Out of Generational Poverty - Exhibition
Exhibition: The Way Out of Generational Poverty
In Slovakia, extreme generational poverty is primarily associated with excluded communities living in settlements. Approximately 2,500 children are born into them each year, and we as a society are robbing them of their future. Without help, the parents of these children cannot prepare them for a successful start in school, their success and a dignified future. Therefore, the Cesta von association focuses on the development and targeted stimulation of children in the critical early age from 0 to 4 years, when their brains grow the most. It does this "from within the community", through employed women - omams - directly from the settlements.
The hallucinations empower the parents of these children to protect them from the negative effects of poverty and toxic stress, which is most damaging to the healthy development of a child's brain. Martin's photographs show not only what it is like to live in generational poverty, but also how these problems are being addressed in The Way Out. Investments in early childhood will pay off many times over in the future - for families, but also for society as a whole.

About the organization Cesta von oz
Text about us: Cesta von is a civic association dedicated to excluded communities. Approximately 2,500 children are born into generational poverty in Slovakia every year. In poor conditions, they do not have the right conditions to develop properly. Their parents struggle with inadequate housing, unemployment and debts. In the Omama, Amal, Filip and Zebra programs, the youngest children, youth and entire families gain skills to embark on a journey out of generational poverty.
