Treasures of archaeologists in the flow of time
Objects from ancient times are carriers of the stories of the country and the people who lived in it and created its culture. For the archaeologist, each of them is a small treasure that reveals the mind of the creator - the master, the relationship of the people of that time to art, and at the same time their everyday life. The perfection and beauty of these products amazes us even after several thousand years. To this day, we study them, learn from them, and they are a bottomless well of inspiration for us.
This is also evidenced by the exhibition "Treasures of Archaeologists in the Stream of Time", which is an example of the connection between the work of archaeologists of the East Slovak Museum in Košice and today's masters of the art craft - students of the Private School of Art Industry in Hodruš-Hámry.
We supplement the rarest and most beautiful archaeological finds from the museum's holdings with student works focused primarily on the production of replicas of important archaeological finds from different time periods that come from the territory of Slovakia. In a chronological framework, we want to bring you closer to the development and life of cultures in our region.
Travel back in time through the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages and get to know the lives of the Celts and ancient Germans, as well as the Avars and ancient Hungarians who once inhabited the territory of Slovakia. You will be transported to the Middle Ages by finds from an early medieval burial ground and replicas of the highest medieval armory art. Jewelry and dress decorations from the 18th and 19th centuries will bring you closer to the elegance of later times. The wide spectrum of artistic craft techniques will finally be complemented by a display of original designs and replicas of jewelry and weapons from the workshop of the Hodruška school. In addition, the SmartGuide digital audio guide will tell you various interesting facts about the exhibited exhibits.
