A Summer Full of Science at SteelPark |
If you think Summer at Kulturpark 2026 will be all about music, concerts, and a vacation atmosphere, get ready for a whole host of surprises. Throughout the summer, the accompanying program will also feature playful science workshops with the SteelPark science playground, which will show children that physics, chemistry, and technology can be just as fun as summer adventures.
Over the course of two months, young explorers will experience a host of experiments and moments that will make their eyes sparkle with curiosity, and the question “Why?” will become their most frequently used word. Science Summer kicks off on July 1 at 3:00 p.m. with the workshop “We’re Hot!”
And it’s going to be a really hot start. The children will follow the trail of heat and discover how the phenomena we encounter every day work. Why do hot-air balloons fly? How is it possible for air to rise? And does a balloon really always burst when held over a flame?
The answers won’t come in the form of lectures, but through fun experiments. Little scientists will watch a paper rocket made from an ordinary tea bag take off, explore how air behaves when heated, and discover why water can protect a balloon from bursting even over an open flame.
Along the way, they’ll subtly uncover the great mysteries of physics. They’ll learn the difference between heat and temperature, discover how energy is transferred between objects, and understand why heat spreads through conduction, convection, or radiation.
The best part is that they’ll be able to see everything with their own eyes and even try out many of the experiments themselves.
Tickets can be purchased at www.k13.sk or at the SteelPark reception desk. Admission is 8 euros per child. One accompanying adult is 4 euros; a second accompanying adult is 8 euros—tickets for accompanying adults are sold only on-site.
