A Summer Full of Science at SteelPark |
Summer at Kulturpark 2026 will once again offer a wealth of experiences that go beyond ordinary entertainment. Throughout the summer break, the accompanying program will feature interactive workshops with the SteelPark science playground, where children will discover that science is all around us. Over the course of two months, they can look forward to experiments, discoveries, and creative activities that will turn their curiosity into a real-life experience.
One of the most fragrant workshops of the summer will be “Until It’s Soapy!”, which will take visitors on July 8 at 3:00 p.m. into the fascinating world of biochemistry and everyday hygiene. It will show them that chemistry isn’t just a collection of complex formulas, but also a part of our everyday morning rituals—ones we can hardly imagine life without.
How is soap made? Why can it remove grease and dirt? And what happens at the molecular level when we wash our hands? Participants will discover the answers to these questions with their own hands.
During the workshop, they’ll try their hand at traditional “cold process” homemade soap making. Using vegetable oils, natural fragrances, dried herbs, and colorful ingredients, they’ll create original soaps based on their own imagination. In addition, they’ll mix their own practical gel hand sanitizer, which they’ll be able to take home.
At the same time, they’ll learn about one of the most fascinating chemical processes—saponification, or the process of turning oils into soap. Through a playful approach, they’ll understand how soap is made, what happens when oils react with an alkaline solution, and why the result is a substance that helps us stay clean and protect our health.
Tickets can be purchased at www.k13.sk or at the SteelPark reception desk. Admission is 8 euros per child. One accompanying adult is 4 euros; a second accompanying adult is 8 euros—tickets are sold only on-site.
