A Summer Full of Science at SteelPark |

Summer at Kulturpark 2026 is transforming into a vibrant park full of experiences, relaxation, and culture, while also bringing playful science with the SteelPark science playground. And this time, on July 22 at 3:00 p.m., it will take children into a world where even something as simple as falling hides more questions than meets the eye.

The workshop “I Fall, You Fall, We Fall” will show that the fall of objects isn’t nearly as simple as it seems. Why do some things fall faster and others slower? And can “falling” be influenced simply by changing the shape or the way an object moves through the air?

Participants will start with a simple experiment that reveals right away that physics can be surprising. They’ll compare different ways that everyday objects fall and observe how their behavior changes in the air—an environment that is far from empty.

Then it’s time for their own ideas. The children will design and test small structures that all share one common goal—to slow down the fall of a weight as much as possible. Each attempt becomes a small experiment in which the shape, material, and the way the object “behaves” in the air are decisive factors.

The workshop introduces the principles of gravity and air resistance in a playful way. Without complicated explanations, it shows that a falling object does not fall on its own—it constantly interacts with its surroundings, which influence its movement more than we might expect.
