A Summer Full of Science at SteelPark | Sherlock Holmes' Laboratory Workshop
Summer at Kulturpark 2026 will once again show that science can be just as thrilling as a good mystery novel. In addition to music, culture, and summer fun, it will also feature a series of playful science workshops with the SteelPark science playground, which will transform the summer break into a time full of discoveries, experiments, and unexpected revelations.
One of the most exciting events will be the “Sherlock Holmes Laboratory” workshop on July 15 at 3:00 p.m., where children will find themselves right in the middle of a fictional crime investigation. As little detectives, they’ll search for clues, analyze evidence, and gradually uncover what really happened.
But be warned—nothing will be as it seems at first glance. Participants will learn the basics of forensic science and discover how chemistry and physics are used in real laboratories to investigate cases. Using test tubes, pipettes, and indicator solutions, they’ll analyze three key pieces of evidence and test for the presence of various chemical substances in the samples.
At the same time, they’ll set out to uncover secret writing hidden right before their eyes—just waiting for the right chemical reaction to “reveal” it. And that’s not all.
In the role of forensic investigators, they’ll also try their hand at fingerprint analysis. Using fine powder, brushes, and adhesive tape, they’ll lift and examine fingerprints that can reveal more than meets the eye. Children will thus discover that solving mysteries relies not only on intuition, but above all on observation, experimentation, and scientific thinking.
Tickets can be purchased at www.k13.sk or at the SteelPark reception desk. Admission is 8 euros per child. One accompanying adult is 4 euros; a second accompanying adult is 8 euros—tickets for accompanying adults are sold only on-site.
