Emmerich Kálmán: CIRCUS PRINCESS
Hungarian composer Emmerich Kálmán's 1926 operetta The Circus Princess represents the pinnacle of his work in the genre of Viennese operetta and reflects the post-war 1920s as well as the influence of new musical styles. The operetta stands out for its romantic plot, exotic atmosphere of the circus setting and beautiful melodies. The work represents the classical Viennese operetta with typical elements such as the disguise of the characters, the complicated love plot and the contrast between the aristocratic and folk milieu.
The performance will be a collaboration with the New Stage Theatre, the NDKE Ballet and the NDKE Drama Theatre.
