Ivana Kulkarni is the first Slovak woman to obtain the highest qualification within the merchant navy - Master Mariner Unlimited, the right to command any type of merchant ship anywhere in the world, regardless of its size, tonnage, type of cargo or number of people on board.

For more than a decade he has been in some of the most remote and extreme places on the planet - Antarctica and the Arctic. In this talk, you will learn how to navigate a ship between icebergs, how decisions are made in an environment where error has no second chance, and how multicultural teams are led in the isolation and extreme conditions of ocean expeditions.

  • What is daily life like on an expedition ship at the end of the world?

  • What decisions are made amidst the ice, fog and isolation?

  • And what can we take away from such an environment for our own lives?
