MUNICIPAL WASTE, ACID FORCE, ORBITAL DAMAGE
An honest mix of thrash metal and hardcore punk will be brought from Richmond, USA to the Košice Coliseum by Municipal Waste! Get ready for an energetic show complete with lyrics full of black humour, alcoholic excesses and post-apocalyptic themes - Municipal Waste take no prisoners!
Municipal Waste was formed in 2001 in Richmond, the capital of Virginia, USA. Their work is characterized by an extremely fast tempo, aggressive riffs and a strong hardcore punk influence. Lyrically, the band often focuses on themes inspired by horror films, apocalyptic scenarios and black humour, which gives their music a distinctive 'party thrash' edge. With energetic live shows and a raw sound, they have quickly built a reputation as one of the most vital bands in their genre. Their breakthrough came with Hazardous Mutation (2005), which secured them cult status among fans of the new generation of thrash metal, followed by The Art of Partying (2007), an album that clearly defined the band's character as a 'party thrash' phenomenon by its name alone. Musically, they draw on the legacy of classic 80s thrash bands such as D.R.I. or Suicidal Tendencies, but have managed to reinvigorate that style with a contemporary energy and constant touring activity that has made them popular festival stars around the world.
Their live shows are known for their intensity and chaotic atmosphere, with the band and audience functioning as one big thrash whirlwind. Over more than two decades of existence, Municipal Waste have thus earned their position as one of the most essential bands of the modern thrash/crossover wave, and continue to prove that thrash can be not only aggressive, but also fun and infectiously energetic.
There will be no shortage of quality support at the Municipal Waste stop in Košice - Banská Bystrica thrashers Acid Force and Bratislava's Orbital Damage will take care of it!
Banská Bystrica's Acid Force is currently the sharpest tip of Slovak thrash metal, which easily broke out of the 'retro' revival box. Their evolution from the raw Atrocity for the Lust to World Targets In Megadeaths shows a fascinating transformation: from frantic speed/thrash to sophisticated compositions with a strong influence of NWOBHM and technical heavy metal.
Bratislava's Orbital Damage represent the dirtier, nastier face of the genre, where thrash metal meets predatory crossover and post-apocalyptic aesthetics. Their expression is based on uncompromising punchiness and lyrics that reflect social decay and technological decay, which is also underlined by their visual presentation. Musically, the band is not afraid to work with disharmony and aggressive rhythmic twists that evoke a sense of constant tension.
