tanC: Zone of Emotion (site-specific dance performance)
Zone of Emotion is a site-specific dance performance that explores the theme of distance as a physical, emotional and choreographic principle. The project is based on the need to re-experience the body in space and touch as a fundamental form of interpersonal contact - a sensory moment that is often lost in the accelerated world of digital communication.
The intention of the project is to create a space for 'experience' - where distance, proximity, touch or its absence take on a new meaning. In a zone where everything is not obvious, movement becomes a carrier of meaning and a means of communication. The project invites the viewer to actively observe, perceive and become sensitized through physicality, proximity and sensitivity to the surroundings.
The work uses principles of contemporary dance, contact improvisation, physical theatre and movement research focused on sensory perception. The performer(s) perceive the body as a 'living sensor' that responds to space, distance, touch and the impulses of the audience, blurring the boundary between performer and audience.
Concept, interpretation.
