Refresh yourself at the fountains of Košice - Part 1.

We invite you to join us on a reading pilgrimage in a new series about the fountains of Košice, where we will provide you with concise information about their origins and the intricacies of their functions. Plan a stroll through the city with ice cream in hand or streetfood delicacies from cuisines around the world and go for a refreshing dip at the popular fountains in the city centre and its outskirts with your children, your spouse or just solo with a book in hand.
Sit on the bench with your favourite song
Let's start with the legendary fountain, which is one of the leading attractions in the centre. Sit on a bench and listen to the strains of the famous melodies you can sing here. Retrieved from Singing Fountain you'll find pompously spreading out among the National Theatre Košice a St. Elisabeth Cathedralwhich makes it the perfect place for a morning rest with a coffee or a cone in hand.
The singing fountain with chimes by the Košice sculptor Petr Sceranka works on the principle of spraying water and coloured lighting according to the melody of a given song, which is always played here every hour for the whole hour. During the 2025 summer season, the fountain is lowered daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. We especially recommend you visit the singing work during the evening, when you are sure to be pleasantly amazed by the light play and the selection of songs.
And did you know that it is the oldest singing fountain in the former Czechoslovakia with 22 bells in a chime representing 22 districts of the city of Košice?
Relax in the centre of the action in a picturesque park
Come and freshen up at the beautiful fountain next to St. Michael's Church, located in a small park at the south end of Main Street. Nearby you'll find Italian ice cream, Mexican street food, an antique shop, a tea shop and a café with drinks from around the world. Take a seat on the circular floor plan and breathe in the warm breeze that gives Košice the feel of an almost seaside town.
This spot is popular with families with curious children who like to chase running pigeons by the fountain and throw pebbles into the water. Also join the students sitting on the grass during their afternoon free time in the centre and soak up the lively atmosphere of Košice.
And don't forget to take a closer look at the interior during your visit St. Michael's Churchyou'll also find an impressive ossuary in its bowels - although it doesn't look like it in this peaceful place today, know that the chapel and fountain stand on the grounds of a medieval cemetery!
Artificial intelligence-driven multimedia performance
Head to the world of fountains for new technologies in Košice City Park! Admire the modern Floating Fountain in the heart of the park a stone's throw from the train station, controlled by artificial intelligence and the Conrad system. It is available daily between the hours of 10:00 and 22:00 and offers its viewers a unique multimedia experience with 26 jets, rotating pirouettes and a finger nozzle system with a unique finger-shaped effect on the fingers of the hand. Its floating structure weighs an impressive eight tonnes and consists of six steel parts connected into one continuous body.
All the individual nozzles, which together synchronise the sounds of the music with the water spray, can have individual heights, up to a cool 10 metres, and are also equipped with a digital light!
