It's open all year round and you can spend a whole day with the kids in the tangle of its many paths and trails. Get up close and personal with the T-Rex, Triceratops, Plateosaurus and the latest walking robotic Stegosaurus! Amazing views of the city centre
Climb the stairs of the only observation tower in Košice, situated next to the ruins of the medieval Košice Castle. The Hradová lookout tower has stood here on the eponymous Hradová Hill since 1987 and in its modern form it rises out of the Kavečany forests overlooking the beautiful historic centre with an altitude of 466 metres above sea level. Take your binoculars and see the details of the houses, historic churches and the shape of dozens of streets from a bird's eye view.

The Hradová Lookout Tower can be reached by bus line No. 29, by private transport or also by a hiking trail with a yellow marker from the Čermeľ resort in a pleasant hour. There is also a summer buffet near the bus stop in the warmer months. Combine a visit to the tower with a tour of the remains Košice Castleunder which the famous Battle of Rozhanovce took place in the past. A triangular bastion and a round tower have been preserved from the castle.

Today you will find an entertainment area where attractive events with historical themes are regularly organised, such as the Castle Feast with period gastronomy. By train to the wild nature
Welcome to the beautiful forest thickets of the Čermelská valley, where for 90 years you can ride on the rails Košice Children's Railway. Did you know that the then Pioneer Railway was built in 1955-1956 as the first recreational railway in the former Czechoslovakia?
The line is currently 3.9 km long with a unique gauge of 1000 mm and its rolling stock and engine locomotive are both movable national cultural monuments. Enjoy a train ride from Cermel to Alpinka and back several times during the day with the exact timetable directly on the website.
The ride lasts about 25 minutes and from the train windows you can watch how the Košice forest is changing right before your eyes or spy on the forest wildlife! If you come here for a weekend ride, you can take a ride on the steam locomotives U36.003 Katka or U29.101 Krutwig. Also worth a look is the delightful smaller stage coach for smaller groups of up to ten people.

Golf holes and rope adventures
After the train ride, enjoy the resort's wide range of adventure attractions with the children Alpinka Košice! In this forest centre of fun, knowledge and sport, you will enjoy a family day out like a dream - jump up and down on the inflatable Giraffe Castle and the inflatable bouncy castle. Together with your parents, you'll experience super tubing, or even sliding on wheels or fantastic 3D maze.
There is also a ping pong table, a trampoline for the little ones and live animals. There is also a great restaurant on site with a tasty daily and permanent menu. Your children will appreciate the chicken stroganoff or the strips and chips from the children's menu. There is also Golf Alpinka for those who would like to practice their aim on nine holes; you can also sign up for the Green Card Course or Kids Camp. The golf centre also has a restaurant, a hire shop and possible club memberships.
One of the greatest privileges of the Alpinka complex is the rope park Tarzania with an amazing 32 obstacles at a height of 4 to 10 metres above the ground! Almost 180 metres of ropes will be enjoyed by children and adults on both the blue and red routes, and for the littlest Tarzanians there is also a children's route with a height of up to 150 cm in 30 minutes with a length of 89 metres. No worries, you are safely belayed throughout the climb and parents will help children at low altitude.

Adrenaline single tracks and disc golf for all
To make sure you don't miss out on the natural attractions, a family holiday in Košice is not without a visit to the Urban Forest (did you know that it is the second largest urban forest in Central Europe?) with its nature and sports entertainment centre Jahodná. Although this place is mainly known for its winter sports and ski season, you will certainly have fun here in summer as well.
Start with a pleasant hike from the Bankov recreation area along the red trail marker of the Trail of the Heroes of the SNP. The ten-kilometre-long trail with easy terrain is suitable for those who love longer walks or a quiet forest bike ride on the flat. In this area you will also find the legendary Košice singletracks - so don't hesitate to rent bikes in the city and conquer obstacles and curves of different levels.
In the family resort Jahodná near Košice, you must play the popular padel with the kids or a fresh addition to the list of family attractions in Košice, Disc Golf Jahodná! If you haven't heard of this discipline yet, now is the time to come and try it right here - you will find a new course with 19 holes and 19 baskets with three types of circuits.
If you don't already own your own discs for the game, you'll find both a rental and a shop on site. The three basic drive types are driver, mid-range and putter, ranging from long to short distance/accuracy. Spend active time in the Kosice countryside with the kids and practice together with local visitors. At Jahodna, after a hearty sporting performance, reward yourself in the local restaurant with a tempting menu, tea room and cottage.

Learn with them in a playful way on several floors of the attractive and interactive Steelpark in the popular Kasárne/Kulturpark complex. Be sure to book a few hours to visit this attraction and its many fun elements for children's entertainment - for example, the interactive sandpit on the ground floor and the vertical climbing frame, which you can use to climb up to the first floor under your own power, will both be of interest to you! Upstairs there is also a magnetic pendulum, which illustrates the principle of the thermomagnetic motor and shows how heat energy is converted into motion; or even a biometric device for recording the electrical activity of the brain, the electroencephalogram. To make matters worse, the Science and Technology Centre regularly organises fun workshops - come here at the weekend or during the holidays for a good dose of knowledge!
