2026 SLAM POETRY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Košice Qualifying Round

The SLOVAK CHAMPIONSHIPS are the biggest celebration of slam poetry in Slovakia. However, qualifying for them isn’t that easy. Only eight lucky contestants from Slovakia will have the chance to compete for the title of champion at Tabačka in Košice on December 4, 2026.

There will be four qualifying rounds for the Slovak Slam Poetry Championship:

November 6 at A4 in Bratislava,

November 7 at Tabačka in Košice,

November 28 at Bašta in Bardejov and at Záhrada in Banská Bystrica.

From each qualifier, two lucky contestants whose texts and performances most impress the audience will advance.

Come help decide which duo will represent the Košice scene at the championships. Come see seasoned slam poets, national stars, and complete newcomers.

ANYONE CAN REGISTER FOR THIS QUALIFIER, exclusively by email at: [email protected]. The number of competitors is limited to 15 slam poets.

There are only three rules:

1. No costumes or props.

2. An original text that the slammer has not performed at a qualifier or championship in previous years.

3. Time limit: 4 minutes. For every 5 seconds (or part thereof) over the limit, 2 points will be deducted; if the 5-minute limit is exceeded, the contestant will be disqualified.

Take on the role of Caesar and revel in the sweat and tears of the slam gladiators, each of whom longs to become champion—but only the best will succeed!

The qualifying round will be hosted by STRAKA, the reincarnation of Slovak slam.

Performance length: 180 minutes

Admission: €10 in advance / €12 at the door
