How can the simple clink of a metal spoon sound like a huge church bell? And can sound travel in ways other than through the air? Over the weekend of November 14–15, 2026, you’ll embark on a journey at SteelPark to explore sound and its mysteries.

A short demonstration titled “The Ringing of the Bell,” based on the “Screams of Monsters” workshop, will introduce children to the world of acoustics and show that sound can travel through various environments. The demonstrations will take place at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. and will last approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

It may start with a simple tap on a metal object. But in a moment, a sound will ring out that resembles the mighty rumble of a bell. What happened in the meantime? The answer lies in vibrations and the way sound travels through the environment.

During the demonstration, children can experience how sound travels through solid materials and compare it to sound that reaches us through the air. They can also experience firsthand that their vocal cords vibrate when they speak or make sounds.

But the fascinating aspects of acoustics don’t end with the bell. Why did people used to press their ears against railroad tracks to hear an approaching train? And how does sound travel underwater, where it is perceived by fish and other marine animals? These questions, too, demonstrate that sound can travel in far more interesting ways than it seems at first glance.

From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., there will also be creative workshops featuring wooden puzzles that will test your dexterity, spatial reasoning, and patience.

The visit will also include SteelPark’s permanent interactive exhibition, where you can further explore science hands-on and discover its principles through interactive exhibits.
