Be2Can | Salvation
15+ (discrimination, violence, fear)
In a remote village in eastern Turkey, the community is divided into two parts due to a decades-old land dispute. The Hazerans live in the upper part of the village, while the Bezarians once inhabited the lower part but were forced into exile. Upon their return, rumors begin to spread that the Bezariovs intend to steal the Hazerans’ land. While the Hazerans’ leader, Sheikh Ferit, advocates for peace, compromise, and coexistence, his restless brother Mesut chooses a different path. Haunted by nightmares, which he regards as prophetic visions, Mesut convinces the Hazerans that the salvation of one side can be achieved only through the complete extermination of the other. The villagers embrace this idea with enthusiasm. Driven by a sense of injustice and righteous anger, they see themselves more as defenders of their land than as those who lay claim to it at the expense of their neighbors. Although the film’s story is based on real events, Emin Alper deliberately blurs the lines between dream and reality and combines realistic elements with a distinctly stylized aesthetic, creating a timeless story with significant contemporary relevance. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival.
