Color defines a space
The exhibition presents a dialogue between two abstract artists who each have a unique approach to color. Silvia Ďurovcová Barteková perceives color in a more physical and intuitive way. She draws on gesture, movement, and mood. The finished painting has a strong emotional impact and is compelling, with color determining both the form and the compositional structure of the work. In Dominika Žáková’s work, color functions as a clear and well-thought-out system. Through color, the artist develops her philosophical thinking, which extends beyond current scientific knowledge. Through her artwork, she highlights the infinite possibilities of human perception of color and its impact on the spiritual life of humans, both today and in the distant future.
The exhibition title, COLOR DEFINES SPACE, refers to the common ground shared by both artists. In their paintings, color is the fundamental vehicle of ideas. It defines form, creates composition, unites layers, delineates space, gives the painting inner weight, and maintains tension.
We look forward to seeing you!
