Děčín | Czech Culture Days
On October 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., the historic town hall will become the setting for a story about the final days of the famous ladies’ man and globetrotter. As part of Czech Culture Days, the Karel Čapek Theater Company from Děčín will present a deeply human comedy about Giacomo Casanova, his loneliness, the intrigues surrounding him, and his final love.
The story takes the audience to the castle in Duchcov, where Casanova is spending the final years of his life. Lonely and exposed to attacks and intrigues, he devotes himself to writing his memoirs. However, Sofia enters his life—a woman who becomes his last love.
Although the story is linked to one of the most famous figures in European history, it primarily offers a glimpse into the life of a man nearing the end of his days. The comedy thus reveals a lesser-known side of the legendary seducer—his loneliness, his memories, and his longing for intimacy.
