The Slovak Technical Museum in Košice, in collaboration with the Institute of Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, the Institute of Informatics at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, the Department of Computers and Informatics at the Technical University of Košice, and the Supercomputing Center at the Technical University of Košice, has organized, after seven years, the exhibition “Extrapolations 2026 – The History of Computing in Slovakia,” which, through unique exhibits from the collections of the Slovak Technical Museum, will showcase the development of information technology from its very beginnings and introduce visitors to the fascinating world of computing in Slovakia.

“This year’s exhibition is, for the first time, entirely organized by the Slovak Technical Museum and offers visitors a selection of exhibits drawn exclusively from the STM’s collections. The aim of the exhibition is to show the younger generation that computing technology was also manufactured in what is now Slovakia. Scientific institutions will present their programs, projects, and basic information about the latest supercomputer, Perún,” explained the exhibition’s creator and curator of the STM’s Department of Electrical Engineering, Ing. Peter Drozd.

Authentic collection items, previously unavailable to the public, allow visitors to trace how computing technology gradually evolved —from the first vacuum-tube computing devices and information processing methods to the technologies used in the late 20th century that paved the way for today’s digital world.
