Grandma Naďa is celebrating her 80th birthday, but her family is already thinking about the future inheritance—especially the house in a village near Kyiv. Everyone has their own idea of how to secure the largest share possible. The granddaughter arrives with a new sofa, the son with a headstone, and the daughter-in-law hatches a plan to seize the house before the others do. Meanwhile, the entire village watches with bated breath to see who will outwit whom. While the relatives vie for an inheritance that doesn’t even belong to them yet, they manage to argue several times, fall in love, “bury” the living honoree, and make up again—only to start all over. When the scent of an inheritance wafts through the village, family values quickly take a back seat. Nevertheless, it turns out that the strongest bond isn’t a fence or a property line, but family. Even if its members regularly try to kill one another.
