Milan Paľa : Lalli (2018–2025) 70'
LALLI ( from the Latin for “lullabies”) is a cycle of seventeen miniatures for violin and piano that Milan Paľa composed over the course of seven years and which today form a cohesive full-length work. It is also the most intimate statement to date by this violinist and composer, whose distinctive artistic journey has established him as one of the most original and influential figures on the contemporary music scene.
The individual pieces in the cycle arose from personal impulses, memories, encounters, and inner reflections, yet they are united by a shared atmosphere of silence, tenderness, and fragility. Although the title refers to lullabies, their meaning transcends the traditional notion of music intended to help one fall asleep. The seventeen miniatures offer a space for quiet reflection and immersion in one’s own inner world.
Pianist Katarína Paľová will perform alongside Milan Paľo at the concert. They share a passion for promoting and interpreting contemporary music, the works of living composers, and rarely performed pieces, and together they have already premiered numerous works.
