On and Off the Beaten Path and the Snow Film Fest
'Cestou necestou' and the Snow Film Fest will bring travel, wild nature, extreme sports, and stories of people who push the limits of their abilities to Košice. On October 26 and 27, 2026, Kasárne/Kulturpark will host three travel lectures and an evening filled with winter films from around the world.
The first evening will be dedicated to the Cestou necestou festival. The program will open at 6:05 p.m. with Zuzana Šimanská’s talk “Like a Fish in Water—Traveling the World on a Single Breath,” in which she’ll introduce the world of freediving and exploring the underwater world.
At 7:05 p.m., we’ll set off for the Himalayas with Michal Knitl. His talk, “Nepal and India: 622 km of Freedom and 50 km to Heaven,” will recount three months on the road, hundreds of kilometers on foot, and adventures in Nepal and India. His new travelogue, *Beyond the Mountains of Asia*, will also be available for purchase on-site at a special price.
The evening will conclude at 8:15 p.m. with Gabriel Antal’s lecture “Madeira—The Island of Eternal Spring.” Dramatic mountains, cliffs, waterfalls, levadas, and laurel forests will be complemented by personal stories and practical tips for traveling around the island.
The second evening will be dedicated to the Snow Film Fest 2026. Starting at 6:10 p.m., it will feature six winter and adventure documentaries. The program will open with *Hungry Gravity* from the Austrian Alps, followed by *Minus 103 Degrees* about a historic solo winter ascent of Denali. *Ice Builders* will take viewers to the Himalayas, *Ice Fools* to Canada’s ice rivers, and the French films *With a Cool Head and Heart* and *Once in a Lifetime* will present the stories of Victor de Le Rue and an expedition to Antarctica.
Two evenings will bring together mountains, snow, ice, travel, adrenaline, and inspiring stories from different corners of the world.
