Our Friend René | Theater Production

The iconic theatrical story *René* returns to the stage in a new interpretation. The humor of Milan Lasica and Július Satinský comes to life in a performance by Juraj Kemka and Lukáš Latinák, who will visit the Historic Town Hall in Košice on February 23, 2027, at 7:00 p.m.

René, perhaps Slovakia’s most famous “jack-of-all-trades,” sets out once again to explore the world. This time, however, he discovers that even at the ends of the earth, there’s no escaping Slovaks and their typical traits. His adventures offer a look at Slovak quirks, social stereotypes, and everyday absurdities—with humor, perspective, and a dash of satire.

The production *Our Friend René* builds on the legendary theatrical story by the writing duo Milan Lasica and Július Satinský. The new duo, Lukáš Latinák and Juraj Kemka, brings their own acting energy to the production while preserving the characteristic humor and timelessness of the original work.

Jakub Nvota, who was one of Milan Lasica’s favorite directors, took on the role of director. Set designer Pavol Andraško, costume designer Katarína Hollá, and musician Kamil Mikulčík also collaborated on the production. The show is produced by Mišo Malicher.
