The 'Summer at Kulturpark' program will feature a concert by the band Silband on August 16, 2026. The band, known for its original fusion of folk instruments with modern musical genres, will perform at 7:00 p.m. at Kasárne/Kulturpark.

Silband is one of a kind on the Slovak music scene. Its hallmark is the use of acoustic folk instruments in unconventional arrangements that draw on elements of rock, electronic music, and world music. The result is a distinctive “cimbalom sound,” thanks to which the band has gained the attention of audiences both at home and abroad.

The group’s roots date back to 2003, when it was founded by brothers Miloš and Gabriel Silvay. Although it originally focused primarily on folk music, the band gradually began experimenting with new musical forms and developing its own style. It is precisely this combination of tradition and modern elements that has become its hallmark.

Silband made a more significant impression on the public in 2010 with their appearance on the television competition *Czech Republic and Slovakia’s Got Talent*. At the auditions, they captivated the audience with an original arrangement of Robert Miles’s song “Children,” performed on traditional folk instruments. In subsequent rounds, the band presented their own interpretations of songs by artists and groups such as Michael Jackson, The Prodigy, and Yes, while also drawing attention with their unconventional playing techniques on the cimbalom, violin, and other instruments.
