The City of Fathers

Filmmaker Zdeněk Tyc presents the story of a father and son who seem to have little in common other than the first name Richard and an apartment in a prefab building in Adamov.
A burly, good-natured thirty-something factory worker listens to metal and only partially lets his girlfriend into his life. The gentle, retired teacher who raised him alone after his mother left is the embodiment of tenderness and understanding. However, their peacefully shared reality—in which there is room for both the hardcore band Našrot and Bergman’s *Whispers and Cries*—is disrupted one day by the sudden death of their mother, who lived nearby. Richard embarks on a unique journey of initiation, lined with unusual encounters and moments of unexpected awakening.
Tyc dives headfirst into existential themes, backed by a reliably strong cast of superbly chosen actors led by Tomáš Vravník and Vladimír Javorský.
