The Flood | AMFIK
15+ (violence, fear)
The film *The Flood* tells a story set in Czechoslovakia in 1980. Mara is 15 years old and dreams of becoming a pilot and leaving village life behind. Her father, Alexander—a Rusyn farmer and widower—insists, however, that she stay home and continue working the family farm. When their valley is slated to be flooded for the construction of the Starina Reservoir, both must come to terms with the loss of their home and family heritage. At the same time, they seek a path to mutual reconciliation amid the struggle between tradition, identity, and the desire for freedom.
The screening will take place at Amfik on Festival Square.
