The Truth in Háj | comedy

Something is happening in the eastern part of the country. But no one knows exactly what. Everyone has their own information, their own version of events, and their own perspective on what’s going on around them. A new dark comedy based on a true story by Jan Gordulič and Alžbeta Vrzgula will premiere on December 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Historic Town Hall in Košice.

At the center of the story is the family of businessman Roman. His energetic wife Zuzka, his free-spirited daughter Grétka, his eccentric brother Zoli, and Grétka’s new boyfriend Vladko find themselves in a situation where it’s becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between what is true and what is merely well-presented information.

Is an invasion coming? A coup? Or is it something else entirely? And what if each of them has a different version of the same story?

The production explores themes of fake news, manipulation, differing perspectives on reality, and the question of what can drive a family apart. Because when everyone thinks they alone know the truth, even an ordinary family discussion can take an unexpected turn.

Starring Zuzana Vačková, Roman Pomajbo, Vladislav Plevčík, Natália Slovíková, and Jakub Lužina/Tomáš Hudák.

Who is right? Who merely believes what they’ve been told? And what happens when differing beliefs seep even among those closest to us? A new dark comedy at the Historic Town Hall will provide the answers.
