Observation tower Hradová

See the city like in the palm of your hand from the legendary Hradová Observation Tower with three observation terraces in close proximity to Košice Castle. Its current form replaced the historic Rákoci lookout tower, which stood here since 1909. This prominent attraction in the Kavečany district of the city has gone through a very colourful and unfavourable fate in the past - while the first tower was demolished ten years later by unknown persons as a symbol of the former monarchy and the second triangulated wooden version was burnt down, the third trigonometric tower collapsed in the 1960s.

Today, from the more than 21-metre high tower designed by Ondrej Soták of the Košice Stavoprojekt, you can look out over the colourful peaks of the churches in the city's monument reserve and the distant Slanské and Volovské Hills. The Hradová Lookout Tower can be reached by a hiking trail with a yellow sign from the Čermeľ centre or by bus No. 29. Tourists will also be pleased with relief maps to all cardinal points with descriptive markings of the highest points in the surroundings of the town. The latest addition to the tower is the recently upgraded suspension footbridge, which will be appreciated by visitors of all ages and outdoor photography enthusiasts.
