Observation tower Hradová

Exterior Hiking Nature

Explore Košice from a place that reveals the most beautiful scenery. The Hradová lookout tower, located on the eponymous Hradová Hill (466 m above sea level) and 21.51 metres high, offers unique views of the varied horizon of Košice, the Košice forests and the surrounding nature of the Slanské vrchy, Volovské vrchy, the Hungarian Zempléni-hegység and the Čierna hora mountains. Descend the 98 steps of this striking landmark and enjoy the contrast of the historic centre's colourful rooftops and wild nature in every season.

Thanks to the renovation and extensive modernisation in 2025 and 2026, you can enjoy new experiential elements when you visit the tower - a new information and orientation system is complemented by telescopes, models and information boards, and the atmosphere of this popular place is further enhanced by new lighting, which stands out especially after sunset.

You can also relax on the suspended observation deck, which naturally frames the iconic view of Košice and is one of the favourite photo spots for photography enthusiasts. The area in front of the tower also provides a pleasant backdrop for relaxation - benches and tables create an ideal place for conversations overlooking the city.

Parents with curious children will also find a place of their own. They will be delighted to find a pipe telephone in the tower, thanks to which they can playfully communicate with each other on the individual floors. They can also enjoy the surrounding nature - there are several nature trails in the Hradová locality, such as Man and the Forest, Forest Trees, Animals in the Forest or From the History of Košice Castle, which bring nature and the history of this place closer to each other. The total length of all four nature trails is over 1.8 kilometres.

The lookout tower can be reached by bus No. 29 or by car with parking at the entrance to the forest zone. From there it is just a short, pleasant walk through the forest. Entrance to the tower is free of charge.
