Silická ice cave
Silická Ice Cave, or Silická Ice Cave, is a unique natural and geomorphological phenomenon in the Slovak Karst, which you should definitely include in your day trips around the area during your visit to Košice - you can get here by following the yellow trail from the village of Silica. The lowest ice cave in Slovakia and Europe with a length of 1100 metres and a depth of 110 metres has been inhabited several times in the past, as evidenced by findings from the Neolithic, Bronze Age and the Latin Age. Here you will find remarkable conditions for the presence of cold-loving plant and animal species and an impressive entrance portal with ice decorations. If you're lucky, you might see a common bat and a lesser horseshoe bat flying in the cave!
